GTP001

1990 Consulier GTP-LX  VIN 001

I would like to encourage you to watch the videos posted (to the right on your desktop or bottom of page on mobile), and learn a little about the history of the cars and their creator Warren Mosler.

This car started life sometime around September 1989 as VIN 001 for 1990. I acquired the car from the original owner (Matt) who bought the car as a factory close out sale in 2013. The factory had put over 153,000 miles on the car and it is now sitting with around 180,000 miles and counting as it is driven often.

During Matts stewardship of the vehicle he has swapped out the original Dodge 2.2L Turbo II motor for a more modern Dodge 2.4L twin cam turbo (SRT4) and power has been increased from 200hp to around 400hp. The car weighs in around 2100 pounds, has functional air conditioning, and power windows.

This car is one of three made with an extended roof line nicknamed "Helmut" cars after the German WWII military helmets which have a similar visor like appearance. The other two Helmut cars are in Alberta Canada (1988 VIN008 ) and the UK (not sure year or vin).

This car is the only car I know of to be built with a bumper delete, however "pearl" (1988 VIN 007) currently residing in Arizona was built with an integrated bumper design that I believe is 1 of 1 also. Technically every Consulier is a 1 of 1, as there are no 2 cars that are identical, the early cars in particular each car seemed to be an evolution of the previous car.

There were 8 convertibles and 2 roadsters built, to date both the roadsters are lost and the Consulier community does not know their whereabouts. The most famous of the convertibles would be "the barbie car" owned by Johnny in Oregon. Johnny shows the car every chance he gets and has been known to take Barbie on 2-3000 mile road trips. Johnny also host the main Consulier web page which can be found here http://www.consuliergtp.com and has a wealth of information on the cars there also.
